Line up of atendees at the Atmi National competitions in Sheffield

Our National and International competitions

Atemi Nationals

Atemi Nationals is the first National event of our Jiu Jitsu calendar. All TJJF clubs are invited to take part in this 2-day event, with exclusive seminars from instructors across the country and competitions where beginners can get acquainted with competing in a safe environment, while more advance jitsuka get to show off their skills and style facing different attackers and weapons.

You also get to meet jitsuka from all over the country and make life-long friends.

More info on The TJJF website.

Dates, times & location

This year’s Atemi Nationals take place on Nov 23rd – 24th, at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, Coleridge Rd, Sheffield S9 5DA.

The event starts at 9 am on Saturday morning.

It’s always listed on our Regional Calendar, which shows all our training sessions and events.

Price

  • Registration for only the competitions/seminars tends to be around £45
  • We usually travel down to England together and coordinate accommodation and travel. This usually puts the cost of attending around £180 for students & £220 for non-students (including registration fees).
  • These later figures very much depends on accommodation prices and varies year on year.

Randori Nationals

Similarly to the Atemi Nationals, the Randori National competitions are a 2-day event held in England (location varies year on year). There are seminars and competitions, but the focus here is 1-to-1 combat in a Kodokan Judo fashion, practicing the ability to throw a resisting opponent. The Randori Nationals are a homage to the close ties the style’s origins has with Judo.

Details for this year’s Randoris are still to be published.

Internationals

Probably the most exciting events in out calendar are the The Jiu Jitsu Foundation Internationals. They take place every three years. They are usually a week-long affair hosted by one of our non-UK based clubs. They are seminars by instructors from all across the globe, socializing and sightseeing activities.

There are technically no competitions, but it’s a chance for higher grades from those countries to grade. Candidates are put through the test in an International grading and new belts are awarded at the end of the week.

In the past internationals have taken place in Canada and South Africa amongst others, and most recently in Vienna in 2023.

The next internationals will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2026, 26th July – 1st August, hosted by Jitsu International Argentina.
