Line up of atendees at the Atmi National competitions in Sheffield

Our National and International competitions

Atemi Nationals

Atemi Nationals is the first National event of our Jiu Jitsu calendar. All TJJF clubs are invited to take part in this 2-day event, with exclusive seminars from instructors across the country and competitions where beginners can get acquainted with competing in a safe environment, while more advance jitsuka get to show off their skills and style facing different attackers and weapons.

You also get to meet jitsuka from all over the country and make life-long friends.

More info on The TJJF website.

Dates, times & location

For 2025, the Atemi Nationals are scheduled to take place on Nov 21st – 23rd, at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, Coleridge Rd, Sheffield S9 5DA. The event starts at 9 am on Saturday morning.

Any changes to this date will be reflected on our Regional Calendar, which is always up-to-date and shows all our training sessions and events.

Price

  • Registration for the competitions/seminars tends to be around £50
  • We usually travel down to England together and coordinate accommodation and travel. This usually brings the total cost of attending to around £200 for university students & £250 for non-students (including registration fees).
  • Total costs very much depend on accommodation prices and varies year on year.

Randori Nationals

Similarly to the Atemi Nationals, the Randori National competitions are a 2-day event held in England every year. There are seminars and competitions, but the focus here is 1-to-1 combat in a Kodokan Judo fashion, practicing the ability to throw or submit a resisting opponent within a set of competition rules. The Randori Nationals are a homage to the close ties the style’s origins has with Judo.

Dates, times & location

For 2026 the Randori Nationals are scheduled to take place on May 1st – 3rd, at the Munrow Sports Centre, University of Birmingham. The event starts at 9 am on Saturday morning.

Any changes to this date will be reflected on our Regional Calendar, which is always up-to-date and shows all our training sessions and events.

Price

  • Registration for the competitions/seminars tends to be around £50
  • We coordinate accommodation and travel, with costs depending on the number of Scotland attendees sharing transport and accommodation. Prices are expected to be roughly in line with Atemi Nationals (£200 all-inclusive for university students & £250 for non-students).

Internationals

One of the most exciting events in our calendar are the The Jiu Jitsu Foundation Internationals. These take place every three years and are a week-long affair hosted by a club outside of England. At Internationals, seminars are taught by leading instructors from all across the globe, followed by socialising opportunities and sightseeing activities in the hosting country.

There are technically no competitions at Internationals, but they do feature high-level gradings for members from all countries. Grading candidates are put through the test in an International grading and new belts are awarded at the end of the week.

In the past Internationals have taken place in Canada and South Africa amongst others, and most recently in Vienna in 2023.

The next internationals will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2026, 26th July – 1st August, hosted by Jitsu International Argentina.
